la-vierge-fig
La Vierge Fig

La Vierge is a fig that comes from the "No Reserve" series. This series, established by French fig growers Figues du Monde, features sugary and pasty figs with a high concentration of flavor. These "session figs" can be enjoyed by the handful without sugar overload. La Vierge originally hails from the Toulouse region of southern France. It is said to have been discovered growing near the outbuildings of a castle known as Bures-Sure-Yvette. Its home near the Spanish border gave La Vierge more heat and a longer growing season compared to other French figs. La Vierge may be late ripening in many climates, and can benefit from a greenhouse or indoor head start for the season.

The drop-shaped figs are long, but without a very pronounced neck like some French figs. La Vierge figs are known for their concentrated, light red pulp and sugary sweetness. The mild flavor and delicate sweetness make La Vierge figs a real delight. The figs grow on trees with 5-lobed leaves. Like the figs themselves, La Vierge leaves have smooth edges and a smooth face. The leaves are large, but without long fingers. La Vierge is late ripening, as late as mid September.

Terms and Conditions:

***Please be sure to read our Terms and Conditions before purchasing cuttings***

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state.
